Summer Reading List 2008

July, 2008

Dear Iona Grammar School Parents,
a

I hope you are finding the summer months both relaxing and enjoyable. We will soon turn our thoughts to the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year. You will find enclosed the Iona Grammar School Calendar for 2008-2009.  It is full of information, which I ask you to spend time reviewing in an effort to make the beginning of school a smooth transition from the summer months. Please become familiar with the Parent/Student Handbook information, which appears on the pages before each monthly calendar. I also wish to call your attention to our website – www.ionagrammar.com – where you will find up to date calendar and event information.  It is a very useful and handy tool.

I wish to call your attention to some important dates at the end of August and the first few days of September and some details concerning them:

All students in Grades 4 – 8 will be required to purchase the Iona Grammar Assignment Book from our Bookstore ONLY.  This will help us to keep the boys organized on a daily basis.  The cost of the Assignment book is $8.00 and should be purchased on Wednesday, August 27th during the Uniform Sale or on Orientation Day – Wednesday, September 3rd.

In an effort to keep continual and open lines of communication between school and home I will continue the weekly informational mail which will be sent home son each Wednesday.  There will be information pertinent to your son’s class as well as a message from me, along with (Over) information about school events. I hope you will continue to find this both informative and helpful.

I also wish to point out that there will be a “Back to School Night” for all parents on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 for all grades, which will give you an opportunity to meet your son’s teacher(s). The times will be staggered by grade levels due to our parking restrictions.

You were recently sent a letter as well as a form listing the fees for textbooks, consumable books and workbooks; yearbook (optional); retreats (gr. 7 & 8); supplies; and dues for our Parent Organizations. You have received a  fee schedule pertinent to your son’s grade level. I ask that you make payment to Iona Grammar School by Tuesday, August 12, 2008 . Please note that the book and supply fees are for all grades – kindergarten – grade 8.  The fees vary by grade level.

Our time schedule will remain the same with classes beginning at 8:25 A.M. and dismissal at 2:35 P.M.  Homeroom will be from 8:00 A.M. – 8:20 A.M.  Morning Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and Announcements will be at 8:20 A.M. Classes will begin at 8:25 A.M.   There will once again be a homeroom period at the end of the day at 2:30 P.M. – 2:35 P.M. with dismissal at 2:35 .  Students will be marked tardy if they arrive in their homeroom/classroom after 8:20 A.M.

At this time our teaching assignments remain the same for the 2008 – 2009 school year.  All of our teachers and staff members are currently returning as I am writing this letter to you.  Of course, this is subject to change as it is still early in the summer.  New teachers will be hired if enrollment dictates.

May the Lord bless you and your family. Enjoy the remainder of the summer.

a

Yours in Christ,

Peter M. Borchetta
